MONICA
Monica is a very special lady who became a part of our family in June 2008. She is about 14 years old and came to us as a foster on behalf of the UKRCC (United Kingdom Ragdoll Cat Community). In doing so she has enriched our lives beyond measure.
Monica had a very long journey all the way from Essex to Derbyshire and our thanks go to Sharon, the UKRCC volunteer who brought her most of the way.
We first met Monica in the car park of the motorway services just off the M1 at junction 23A. It was a wet Saturday lunchtime and Sharon opened her car door to reveal a very small, very thin Ragdoll and my heart skipped a beat. She looked so sad and pitiful with her shaved side and spindly legs.
Monica came to us with tummy troubles that we were aware of and it took us some months to find a food which didn't make her sick and give her the runs but at last we succeeded and she now eats enthusiastically at all times.
Because she is old and a little infirm it was felt, given the history that the UKRCC provided, that it would be better if she had her own room rather than have to fight for attention with my other very young cats (the eldest was 2 at the time). This means that every day we get to go and enjoy some quiet time with Monica, having a cuddle and a chat and providing her with the comfort which she deserves.

Monica's fur has now grown back and she has settled with us very well. She sleeps a lot but is quick to let us know when she wakes up and wants some company and we are equally as quick to respond to her, being her willing slaves. She is now with us on a long term basis. The thought of ever having to part with her worried me when I offered to foster her but if a permanent home had been available I would have glady let her go so that she could have a home where she could be fully integrated into the family. However, I don't feel, having got to know her, that she is missing out, I'm just so pleased that I have been able to offer her a comfortable, peaceful home where she can live out her retirement years.
SADLY MONICA PASSED AWAY ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 17TH AFTER A SHORT ILLNESS. REST IN PEACE SWEET LADY, IT WAS AN HONOUR TO HAVE YOU.
